Membership Information

Companies that manufacture Processing Machinery and/or Packaging Machinery in North America who:

  1. Are engaged in the manufacturing of processing, packaging or packaging-related converting equipment as defined in Section 3(a) and 3(b) of PMMI's Bylaws
  2. Have been engaged in the activity in the United States, Canada or Mexico for a period of two years prior to application
  3. Have minimum annual sales of at least US$500,000 of eligible equipment.
  4. Have applied for membership and for all services and privileges of membership and have been elected by the affirmative vote of the majority of the Board of Directors.
  5. Have agreed to pay all fees, dues and assessments required.

Plant Review For General Membership Applicants

A member of the Membership Committee, PMMI staff, or a selected PMMI member will visit the applicant's plant. The applicant is notified who will conduct the plant review and a timely schedule is arranged. This tour must be complete prior to the vote by The Board of Directors. During the plant visit, the reviewer verifies the information on the application, answers questions about PMMI, discusses PMMI programs and services and encourages the applicant, if accepted, to become fully involved in PMMI. PMMI members feel strongly that the Institute's goals and objectives can be achieved only by an active and participating membership.

As a General Member of PMMI, you receive the following:

  • Priority booth selection at PACK EXPO trade shows.
  • Two-tier Exhibit Space discount at PACK EXPO trade shows.
  • Pavilion Package rates for Exhibit Space in EXPO PACK and PACK EXPO trade shows.
  • Discounted advertising rates in PMMI Media Group publications and PACK EXPO Show Daily
  • Access to the industry's most pertinent statistics and surveys, including the Shipments & Outlook Study and the Packaging Machinery Purchasing Plans Survey.
  • Access to extensive global market research for international research and networking opportunities with other PMMI members, end users and industry experts. 
  • Use of the PMMI logo for marketing purposes.

Processing or Packaging Machinery manufacturers who do NOT manufacture within the United States, Canada or Mexico but have a “presence” who:

  • have an International parent/division that is engaged in the manufacturing of processing, packaging and related converting equipment as defined in Section 3(a) and 3(b) of PMMI’s Bylaws
  • have a legal entity incorporated in and a physical presence supplying machinery sales, parts and service in the United States, Canada or Mexico for a period of two years and a minimum of 6 or more employees prior to application
  • Invoicing from that location
  • have minimum of at least US$3,000,000 in eligible equipment sales from North American facility.
  • have agreed to pay all fees, dues, and assessments required.

Facilities Review For Associate Membership Applicants

A member of the Membership Committee, PMMI staff, or a selected PMMI member will visit the applicant's North American facility. The applicant is notified who will conduct the review and a timely schedule is arranged. This tour must be complete prior to the vote by The Board of Directors. During the visit, the reviewer verifies the information on the application, answers questions about PMMI, discusses PMMI programs and services and encourages the applicant, if accepted, to become fully involved in PMMI. PMMI members feel strongly that the Institute's goals and objectives can be achieved only by an active and participating membership.

As an Associate Member of PMMI, you receive the following:

  • Priority booth selection at PACK EXPO trade shows.
  • Exhibit Space discount at PACK EXPO trade shows.
  • Discounted advertising rates in PMMI Media Group publications and PACK EXPO Show Daily
  • Access to manufacturers of processing and packaging machinery solutions.
  • Networking opportunities with all PMMI members during the Institute's Executive Leadership Conferences, Annual Meetings and other educational programs.
  • Access to key market research and packaging trends data.
  • Use of the PMMI logo for marketing purposes.

Original manufacturers of commercially available processing or packaging machinery components, who are not engaged in manufacturing, packaging machinery or packaging-related converting equipment or processing machinery who:

  • Have been in business for two years;
  • Have at least $500,000 in component sales per year; and
  • Can provide three General Member references.

References Required For Components Supplier Membership Applicants

Components Supplier Member applicants must list at least three PMMI Members to which you sell.

As a Components Supplier Member of PMMI, you receive the following:

  • Priority booth selection at PACK EXPO trade shows.
  • Exhibit Space discount at PACK EXPO trade shows.
  • Discounted advertising rates in PMMI Media Group publications and PACK EXPO Show Daily
  • Access to manufacturers of processing and packaging machinery solutions.

Original manufacturers of commercially available packaging materials and containers, who are not engaged in manufacturing packaging machinery or packaging-related converting equipment or processing machinery who:

  • Have been in business for two years;
  • Have at least $3 million in materials sales per year

As a Materials Supplier Member of PMMI, you receive the following:

  • Priority booth selection at PACK EXPO trade shows.
  • Exhibit Space discount at PACK EXPO trade shows.
  • Discounted advertising rates in PMMI Media Group publications and PACK EXPO Show Daily
  • Access to manufacturers of processing and packaging machinery solutions.
  • Networking opportunities with all PMMI members during the Institute's Executive Leadership Conferences, Annual Meetings and other educational programs.
  • Access to key market research and packaging trends data.
  • Use of the PMMI logo for marketing purposes.

Suppliers to the packaging and processing industry that DO NOT supply components for the build of machinery who:

  • Have been in the business for two years
  • Have at least $500,000 in related sales per year

As an Affiliated Supplier Member of PMMI, you receive the following:

  • Priority booth selection at PACK EXPO trade shows.
  • Exhibit Space discount at PACK EXPO trade shows.
  • Discounted advertising rates in PMMI Media Group publications and PACK EXPO Show Daily
  • Access to manufacturers of processing and packaging machinery solutions.
  • Networking opportunities with all PMMI members during the Institute's Executive Leadership Conferences, Annual Meetings and other educational programs.
  • Access to key market research and packaging trends data.
  • Use of the PMMI logo for marketing purposes.

If your application is complete and your company appears to qualify, you will be granted provisional membership and receive most member benefits beginning in 1-2 weeks. Once granted provisional membership status, you will receive an email with your login information for www.pmmi.org and a pro-rated invoice. For full membership, your application will be reviewed by the Membership Committee prior to a vote by the PMMI Board of Directors. If your application is rejected by the Membership Committee or by the Board of Directors, your dues will be refunded on a pro-rated basis. If approved by the Membership Committee and Board of Directors, you will receive notification of your acceptance and will receive 100% of the benefits available to your membership type.

The PACK EXPO booth space discount will apply to the upcoming show if the membership application is completed and received.*

Otherwise, the booth space discount and priority space selection will begin for the following year’s show. If your membership application is later denied by the Membership Committee or Board of Directors your PACK EXPO space rate will be recalculated at the non-member rate.

PMMI’s member priority program is a method of recognizing member companies that support PMMI shows by offering them priority in initial booth selection. Each PMMI show has its own priority classification.

PMMI will assign the same priority number to a member for a particular show so long as the member continues to exhibit at that show, though adjustments may result from other members being penalized for not exhibiting and from the sale, merger, or consolidation of members.

PMMI members that choose not to exhibit in a particular show will be penalized a designated number of positions as determined by PMMI. The maximum penalty for members at any given time is to remain at the end of the member priority list. Members not exhibiting for three or more consecutive shows will receive the maximum penalty.

Generally speaking, in the event of a sale, merger, or consolidation of a member company, PMMI will agree to reassign the show priority from that company to the surviving entity, provided that the surviving entity remains or becomes a PMMI member.

The member priority program is a loyalty incentive and booth selection mechanism. A priority is not an asset, and members have no property rights in a priority. Priorities may not be sold or transferred. As stated above, reassignment in the event of sale or similar corporate transaction is only by permission of PMMI. PMMI reserves the right to modify or terminate the priority program in its sole discretion.

The Board of Directors sets the dues annually. PMMI invoices members the first of each year.
